Main purpose is to protect aftermarket headers, secondary purpose is for cooling, tertiary aero.

Going to paint it black

Had the car at GIR last week, as always they did a sterling job

Got installed:
- Liberty GenV Bilsteins, Eibach Prokit springs w/ 3/8" saggy butt spacers in the rear
- Brembos on all 4 corners, Ferodo DS pads all round
- Golpher aluminimum radiator (40mm)

Everything started off ok, but it was then found that the rotors that had been supplied to me with the Brembos had been re-drilled for 5x100 incorrectly. A few studs off centre, therefore unusable. A bit **** (2nd hand part roulette), however thankfully GIR were able to quickly get in some new DBA T2 rotors all round. Also the Brembos were missing a few bolts and dust covers, again GIR to the rescue.

Bilsteins went in fine, however after driving it a bit I get a bit of knocking in the rear left. Ray from GIR did tell me he thought he heard a noise during the test drive that could indicate a bearing failure in the strut, and I think he could be right. I am currently researching buying a new rear pair or reconditioning. Also the front height is a bit too high for my liking, would like to drop it about 1 more inch. I believe the Eibach pro-kit is only a 0.8" drop, so I need to find some Liberty front springs that will drop around 1.8" - still searching on that one too.

So far in the limited driving I've done, the Bilsteins ride so much better than coilovers, the missus should be impressed when she gets back. Also the braking is still excellent but more neutral (less diving forward) due to the rears having decent stopping power also. I'll have to keep an eye on the temp gauge to see if the Golpher is running any cooler or not.

Also the day after I got it back from GIR I got the BBS wheels installed down at my local tyre shop (Tyres Plus). Went on with no problems, I already had the VW to Subaru adapter washers siliconed into the holes (14mm ball to 12mm cone face adapters).

Anyhow heres some pics, enjoy :)

Thanks - one more thing I found is the squeal from the brakes is really really loud! GIR did say because the ferodos were so big they could not install shims on one side, maybe thats why they are squealing. Hopefully when the pad gets worn down a bit the shims could be fitted back on...

Nice work! Do like the look of the blue and gold, bit of Subaru heritage. :ok:
Keen to hear your feedback on the Golpher rad.

Got ours sitting here in shed with a bunch of other parts. Been a bit lazy in ordering timing belt service parts to have it in the car already.
When I ordered it, the guy I spoke to mentioned something about an oil cooler being built into the rad?
Presuming that is the threaded brass tangs/nipples in the bottom tank?
Is simply a pipe that runs through the bottom tank where water is the coolest thus cooling the oil?

Yeah the stock auto radiator has a cooling loop for the auto trans, as does the golpher.

One thing GIR warned me about is due to the depth of the golpher, the oil lines for the auto are quite close to the after market headers. So may need to go external trans cooler soon...
