Be prepared for a surprise when you get the bill for setting valve lash. This is incredibly time consuming to do correctly on a Subaru, and also expensive for parts, as each size adjustment requires a new lifter. And there could possibly be 16 lifters that require sizing. Price in Australia Subaru dealerships is about $50 per lifter. But they can be had for about $20 each if ordering from over seas. It adds up real quick if you have to replace alot of lifters, and pay someone to repace them for you.

Unfortuantly it is pretty common to get less than great work in the industry, as many engine builders will just half arsed mix n match lifters from a bunch of used ones they may have laying around. The problem is, used ones are usually always in the same range of sizes between 4.85mm to 5.15mm. And you might find you have a few that are not set correctly, because the builder simply didnt have the right odd ball size on hand, or didnt want to spend hours of labour getting them set exact. Or, didnt want to wait 1-3 weeks for delivery of a specific size.

Round two for the cooler pipes.
A much more direct path than the earlier attempt.

Bit of a difference in flow from the earlier concept:-

Oooh Yup.
I initially tried roatating the housing and it fouled ( :ok: ) against the oil line which I actually thought was hitting the block.

Was not planned, but the BOV location worked out to be perfect. Should still be able to connect up to the oem return line. Close to the throttle body and being on the inside of the mandrel bend it should have the least amount of flow disturbance due to the slower air speed. Probably .035 of a kw in that.

Short Block is done. The machine shop made a minor error and put in 14mm head stud threads which was not requested. I wont be charged extra, but will obviously need to have to heads drilled out. Bit of a win/loose situation.

That error has ruined the engine. As the engine is the heart of the car, your car is dead - part out :)

One would think.. but I spoke with two independent engine builders who said they don’t touch 14mm head studs due to the strain it puts on the block and 12mm ARP625 studs are more than enough.. I was unaware how much of a sensitive subject it was.

But on another mod note, I stayed back today and made a longer Plazmaman intercooler o-ring housing for the clamps.. My intercooler pipes came up short in one section. One option was to weld in a 19mm piece of pipe or make a longer new o-ring housing.
Five hours from start to finish.
Could only find a lump of square material.. as they say, beggers can’t be choosers.

It’s a tad sobering seeing how short the intercooler pipes actually are (minus the silicon couplers).
