Hi all,
I thought it was time to start a build thread as I've got a little bit coming up and wanted to share it with this great community. I've had my MY08 SH XTP for about 3 years now but never thought about modifying it until I sold my 06 STi. The STi was cranking out 280awkw and was an absolute riot to drive - I miss it every day. The plan for the Foz is to bring it up to "STi Spec" in most departments, but to do it cheaply and effectively. I've revised some of the parts that were on my wish list because the alternative option was 10% of the cost and arguably would have as much benefit compared to the expensive option, keeping in mind this is a street car which my wife drives. I just need to keep telling myself that so I don't get carried away  The main parts which I revised were Brembo's - swapped to Liberty GT calipers and opt for STi struts instead of coilovers.

The car is basically factory at the moment, with the only modification being a set of MY08 STi struts/springs. I installed these a couple of weeks before Christmas with a couple of mates. A bit of a pain to be honest - would definitely help to have a vice and a dremel, neither of which we had. A can-do attitude, a few beers and a decent drill with a burr bit did the work. :drinks:

Purchased items ready to go:
SH sport grill - colour matched - pending delivery 26/02
TurboXS catted dump pipe + mid pipe

Installed:
MY08 STi struts & springs
Whiteline Com C Strut Tops (#KCA409)
MY15 Liberty GT front calipers - painted gloss black
QFM HPX Pads front and rear
DBA T2 rotors 316x30mm (#DBA2650S-10)
Whiteline RCA kit (#KCA313)
Whiteline Anti-Lift (#KCA334)
Whiteline H/duty steering rack bushes (#KSR207)
Whiteline Control arm bushes, front inner (#W0506)
Whiteline 22mm adj Rear Swaybar + endlinks + lateral arms (#BSR49XZ)

Wish list:
Stainless Mufflers - unsure of brand. Needs to be quiet but still have some Subaru growl.
VF52
Tune - aiming for 170awkw and to still have some low/mid range punch.
Whiteline 24mm Front Swaybar
18" wheels once the current RE003's are worn and need replacing.
New headunit - would be nice to have bluetooth and wouldn't mind a USB-C charge port if it was even possible to put that in.

How she sits currently:

Nice car and colour :)

Good list of mods planned. They will make the car much more fun. If you need any tips on installing the T2 rotors check out my build thread as I recently installed T2 rotors and added some steps.

JamesMR,
Agreed, Nice car and colour. Same as mine.
Enjoy and your list of mods are on track too.
Is a radiator / coolant system upgrade on your list?
Cheers Al

Cheers - read the write-up you did and will make note for when I do mine. I can't recall if you've upgraded your calipers but if so, did you reuse the factory lines?

Nothing planned at this stage. If the end tanks decide to give up one day then I'll swap for an alloy radiator. Otherwise if there's obvious temp issues then it will be a no-brainer. I've considered getting an aftermarket intercooler but need to see if there's any factory/STi bits that will work. I've bought Process West stuff in the past for the STi but can't really justify that expense on the Foz really.

Car is booked in a Fulcrum this Thursday. Keen as to see what the end result is and I'm hoping they can sort out the alignment properly. I've got pretty high hopes to be honest. If it feels nice and tight in the corners and stops the pitch under accel/decel then I'll be happy. Biggest thing for me is trying to have all of that translated through the steering wheel as I'm pretty sensitive to small changes in car behaviour and can notice if something is off. I just want it to feel direct in my hands for the most part and still suspecting a swap to an STi rack would do it for me.

Yeah replaced calipers with Liberty GT - front only. Used factory lines. All good. Simply undo, reconnect.

You make like to consider putting in an STI steering rack. See this post:

http://www.ozfoz.com.au/forum/viewtopic ... 4191d5e1ee

Will help to improve steering feel/response. This along with suspension is meant to make a big difference. It is on my to-do list.

I scored a BRG 2.4 turns JDM STi quick rack for the Forester this week and installed it last night. Not that I can use it, yet!!!!

Great timing too, as I had just placed an order with Kris at Rising Sun Subaru (who just assembled my Forged built engine this week) to get me one, as they leave today for holiday, and shopping trip to Japan. Saves Kris looking!

While I was at the rack I installed the new Whiteline 22mm adjustable front sway bar. To compliment the Rear Whiteline 22mm adjustable sway bar.

The OEM had to come off to do the rack anyway. Saved a bit of effort.
