Hey SJ Owners! My wife has a base model SJ and I'm looking to put some new rims and tyres on.

Has anyone fitted 245/50/18 tyres to the SJ?

As far as I can tell, a 245/50/18 tyre is only:
0.06% faster on road / 0.20mm larger radius than the stock 225/60/17 (on 2013 2.5i)
0.36% slower on road / 1.25mm smaller radius than the stock 225/55/18 (on XT)

Putting this on my wife's 18x8 +45 offset rims should be sweet in theory, can anyone confirm. It's at stock height too

As I had mentioned in the previous page, I had no issues with 235/50/18 Brigdestone RE003. 15k km and there is still plenty of tread left. The wheels does look smaller at the stock height. I have pink springs installed.

Thanks jayc0au. I did read all that info but am keen to know about the 245/50/18 size as it's the closest to OEM size and also want the extra tyre width so my wife can touch park on gutters with less chance of gouging the rim face!

Ahh ok

Going 50 ratio on r18 does make it slightly harse over the bumps but nothing too concerning.

245 width is identical to the R18 wrx OEM setup so in theory it should be ok. But of course, it's better to get a first hand experience, I'm just not sure if anyone on here would have tired your potential setup? Try subaruforester.org

Thanks, will do, may be time to cast the net a little further :ok: I'm 99% sure it will be fine at stock height and +45 offset but best to be sure before buying rubber!

Hi,

Just want to add, I recently upgrades my wheels and install 245 50 R18. Not many tyres available, but I managed to get Pirelli Zero Rosso and use the Ultrex Viper with 8.5 width for the wheel.

I attached my quick snap photos.

It with +44 offset... It has almost same high with the stock rims and tyre, so I can use the original spare tyre.

This might be of some use. ADAC's testing of Summer tyres has just been released over here.

They tested 225/45 R17 (not our size I know) and the top three are:
1. Continental ContiSport Contact 5
2. ESA-Tecar Spirit 5 UHP
3. Pirelli P Zero
