The use Forrester i purchased Nov 2016 seems to have a problem engaging X-Mode.
Pressing the button in front of the gearshift does nothing.
Wondering if anyone else has had this issue, or has any ideas?

A local dealer says they can look at it when i have it serviced with them next, but i don't use dealers for servicing, trust and money issues.

Thinking i might be better off pushing the topic and getting them to take the car to look at the X-Mode issue only.
It was sold Oct 2013, so is ~ 9 months out of Warranty, but the issue has been there since i bought the car, stupid me thought there would be some magic art or circumstance involved to activate it.
Finally sat in someone else's SJ recently and it just switches right on for them whilst idling in the driveway.

Would love to hear something like, "Yeah mate, common issue, they suffer a loose connector" or some other simple $0 fix.
Go ahead and disappoint me :P

Is the switch plugged in? Never heard of it not working.

Might be time to pull it apart and start investigating.
Any idea if there is a readily accessible place i can hit with a multimeter?

Well after sitting on my arse for a year i popped the panel off and took a look.
Sure enough it was unplugged.
I thought surely this couldn't be the case, but ....

Interestingly there is only 1 plug, and the start stop button did work.... until it stopped working.
All i can guess is that it was loosely plugged in enough for one button to barely work whilst the other button didn't work.
Glad i resisted taking to to Subaru, i very nervous when it comes to dealing with dealership service centres.
