Everyone's got one.

Something you enjoy, but don't usually tell many people about. You might be a scrabble addict. Maybe you stay up until dawn playing World of Warcraft? Can't get enough of Harry Potter?

So c'mon, what's your inner nerd?

This is mine, model aircraft. I've only taken it back up in the last 12 months, but I used to make heaps of them when I was younger. I've only completed 2, and one will be done at the end of the weekend, one is underway, and one I haven't touched yet...

It's my chill out time, I love it. And it's gotten me into airbrushing too, which I'm working on...

This is a 1/72 Scale Hurricane IIc, my daughter gave me this one for Christmas.

And to give you some idea of the scale...

And this is the first one I did, I saw it on Ebay and had to buy it... From there it all snowballed to the point where the dining table was covered in paint tins, scalpels, tweezers, glues and kits. The boss then said that was enough and I had to get my own desk

It's a 1/48 scale Spitfire, of 79 sqn RAAF, served in Malaysia and New Guinea.
I knocked over thinners on the canopy and rooted it, and am waiting on a new one.

Not anything really specific, but I do enjoy putting the scanner on every now and then.

I'm also a bit of an Aviation Nerd, I can be overjoyed just to fly in a new aircraft type when no one else understands what I'm excited about

This is an awesome idea for a thread :D

Before I came to Australia I had my desktop computer set up with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. Nothing special yet.

Well.. I had around 20GB of extra scenery. And printed a 100 page manual on how to fly PMDG's 767. It's an add on aircraft, which is closely simulating the real aircraft.

I learned how to plot in flight plans, knowing airports by their IACO code, and how to start up the 767 from cold.
Then, logging on to AVSim (network of ATC's and Pilots), I would spend evenings flying real flights with Hawaiian Virtual, Cathay Pacific and Thai Airlines mimmicking the real flights. Getting instructions from Ground Control, then Getting Clearance to Take off, having to wait for other people landing etc... Fun stuff. And then the tower will guide you out using the flight pattern for the current wind conditions, until you can safely resume your flight plan.

ahhh good times.

I was also a part of NGPLS which is/was a racing league who played the old classic GPL, which simulates the F1 championship from the 1967 season. My best achievement was a 3rd place on the circuit Clermont Ferand in the Brabham. We usually ran two servers with a max of 19 on each. And this was one of my first times on the "best" server... We ran a pre-qualification to determine who would go on which server.

First corner, everyone got through safely.. Me in the #2 car.

Crossing the line... :D

Anyways.. Got a bit carried away there.. :P

The sim stuff look's really cool!

Once I actually get around to buying and building our new desktop I'd love to get a throttle and rudder set up and get back into it!

My hobby has a different angle ;)

I'm into nutirition, organics and permaculture.

So at my old place i grew probably 30% of my families food in our backyard, since moving I haven't had time to reset up the gardens yet, only 3 beds so far growing herbs. I also build a outdoor oven out of clay (wood fired) at the old place that I used to cook bread for my family (organic freshly milled sourdough, you can't buy bread like it for any price). I will rebuild the oven at the new joint once I have a bit of time on a weekend.

Proudest part is nobody in my family has seen a doctor in over 10 years, my sons have never been to one, and I lost 15kg and boosted my energy levels too.
