I got into the LAN gear for a while. Never got into watercooling that much, although made a water cooling tower for someone. Worked awesome, had a 100mm pipe with the water falling about a meter, and a cooling fan cooling the droplets. I was always too scared of leaks on my machines.

Oooh, a bong cooler :) I always did want to try one of those, but I didn't really have the location available for it out of sunlight.

I realised how bad that nerdy-ness of mine was in 2003 when I did a road trip to Melbourne with some mates, and along the way we stayed at one of my mate's relative's resort - in the really cold months it snows there - at the time, walking around out in the dry cold weather I couldn't help but think about how awesome the CPU temps would be with an evap tower outside! /facepalm

Edit: Purpose of watercooling PCs is varied, personally I just liked the challenge. Others use it to provide a more stable base for overclocking, because a good set up will extract more heat from a cpu than a regular fan cooled copper heatsink. The first rig I posted there was just a challenge to get all the equipment in the case, the temperatures of the cpu didn't really change a great deal. But the second one afforded me the ability to overclock my AMD 2500+ chip to the speed of a 3200+, with stock voltage supplied, AND a full load temperature of 38 degrees (ambient case temp 20). I was most proud. :)

Sickness. I used to play all the time in high school but stopped in yr 12. I should really get back into it now I can legally drink there too.

Not sure if it would make me better or worse.

The colder you can keep the Processing unit, the more power/speed you can overclock it too. Hence it performs better.

First project was full internal cooling in an Antec Lanboy, which I used to take to LANs. this wan't an easy feat, but it worked. Cooled with 1:1 mix of demineralised water and Smirnoff vodka.

Say it isnt so, that poor vodka..

My inner nerd is building computers and servers out of all the old computer parts i have lying around..

Have a kick-arse Home Server that has about 4TB of storage space stores all my movies/music/tv eps, but currently changing it to running Ubuntu instead of the Windows Solution..
