I went with the RSS Option 2 closed deck short block, Wiseco pistons & NITTO H beam rods with ARP 625 studs.

Mmmm that is certainly some added strength for the cylinder bore. For a street car, do you sacrifice cooling efficiency? will it still be enough cooling to the heads? I like your choice of the ARP625 head stud kit.

The close decking mirrors the head gasket. It looks like its filling in the water passage between the head an block. But its not. The actual passage ways into the head and thrpugh the gasket are way smaller than the water jacket of the cylinder.

And don’t forget the early EJ20 blocks came factory with a closed deck block. It was due to manufacturing costs that it was discontinued.

Finally fitted my vf46, and top mount earlier this week whilst on holidays. Attempted to attach dump, but it was a bit short to attach to the wrx mid section I have fitted and will need some work done.
At hcw in box Hill today getting a tune.

Updates to follow in my build thread with dyno sheet.

Been very Quiet on here for a while but making a comeback. Dropped off case halves to Top Torque Melbourne to machine my short block. Closed deck, Manley turbo tuff pistons 22cc, Argo I beam rods and after much deliberation ARP ca625 studs.

Also have all the 6mt parts stockpiled, HKS la clutch and many goodies stockpiled.
